The Universe could have remained a homogeneous plasma soup, an unending field of energy, or any number of unchanging, uniform, symmetrical states.

However, it raged with change. Things clumped, things combined and created new things, in just moments becoming ever more mindbogglingly complex, rambunctious, mysterious, and beautiful. And changes continued for millions and billions of years, and still there's evolution.
